ASPREN currently comprises about 66 general practitioners from throughout the country, not all of whom report each week. Between 4,000 and 6,000 consultations are reported each week, with special attention to 12 conditions chosen for sentinel surveillance in 2001. Communicable Diseases Intelligence reports the consultation rates for four of these. For further information, including case definitions, see Commun Dis Intell 2001;25:106.
