Page last updated: 30 September 2008

The article on school-based vaccinations of a new human papilloma virus vaccination published in Communicable Diseases Intelligence (Reeve C, De La Rue S, Pashen D, Culpan M, Cheffins T., School-based vaccinations delivered by general practice in rural north Queensland: an evaluation of a new human papilloma virus vaccination program. Commun Dis Intell 2008;32:94–98.) listed ‘fainting’ as a ‘significant adverse event’. Fainting is actually a non-significant event and is not uncommon in mass vaccination programs of adolescent girls.

In addition, the authors would like to acknowledge Queensland Health as the funding source for the school-based vaccination program.
