These Guidelines have been developed, primarily for Chief Health Officers (CHOs), to ensure consistency in the way all Australian states and territories manage HIV transmission risk behaviours.

The National Guidelines for Managing HIV Transmission Risk Behaviours 2018 have been developed in consultation with the Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmissible Infections Standing Committee (BBVSS) and the Communicable Disease Network Australia (CDNA), and endorsed by their parent committee the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC).
