Figure 2: Monthly counts of pneumonia Emergency Department presentations in children for for 2015 (solid lines), compared with the mean of the previous 5 years (dashed lines lines), to 86 NSW hospitals, by location Text Description: Figure 2 shows a line graph with monthly counts of pneumonia ED presentations in children in 2015 (solid lines), paired with the mean monthly couns of the previous 5 years (2010-14). The line graph is stratified by metro (metropolitan) and rural hospitals. Both metro and rural hospitals showed a seasonal increase from March to September. In 2015 metro hospitals show a much greater divergence in monthly pneumonia presentations (peaking at 499 in August), compared to the mean monthly counts (336 presentations) in the previous 5 years. Rural hospitals also saw and increase (although less marked) in monthly pneumonia presentations in 2015 (peaking at 164 presentations in August), compared to the mean monthly counts (125 presentations) in the previous 5 years.
