More than 100 young people and their families gathered at “The Youthie” in Tamworth to eat good tucker and to get active for good health.
The day got off to a cracking start with a nutritious breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt and muesli bars. Afterwards, it was time to have fun and to get moving.
There was a wide range of activities to suit all ages and sporting levels including dance aerobics, table tennis, arts and craft, pool, around the world basketball shoot out, karaoke and a whole group dance session.
By lunchtime everyone had built up a healthy appetite and enjoyed a delicious spread of fresh spring rolls, salad sandwiches and BBQ marinated meats. By day’s end, locals said that they had had a fantastic time making new friends and learning new ideas to keep happy and healthy.
The Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service believes that hosting activities that promote good nutrition and physical activity to local youth today will help build a healthier community tomorrow.
Everyone who attended the day learnt that looking after yourself through eating healthy food and exercising was a great way to help you Live Longer!
