The local Redfern community came together to celebrate NAIDOC in style with local football star Kurtley Beale and members of the South Sydney Rabbitohs there to talk to residents about the importance of staying fit and healthy.

The day was action packed with activities for all ages, including an obstacle course and jumping castle for the young kids. Others had the opportunity to take part in 3-on-3 basketball or Oz tag on the footy oval.

Tennis fans or budding tennis enthusiasts were treated to the Sydney Indigenous Tennis Program who ran speed serve and tennis drills, as well as the team from Auskick running footy passing and kicking clinics.

The main stage was a real focal point, as the audience crowded around to watch entertaining performances from The Gondwana Choir, Pole Dancer Mathew Shields, Marlene Cummins, Nadeena Dixon, Nelly Dargin, Stunna Set, the Black Turtles and the nationally famed Collie Kids. Street Performers Roo’d were also a hit, as their bouncing antics kept everyone entertained.

The Redfern NAIDOC celebration was a great success and a positive opportunity for the inner Sydney community to come together to celebrate healthy lifestyles.
